A luxury homestay website, built to turn visitors into bookings

VRS Homestay is a family business in Mayiladuthurai with a legacy going back to 1989. They asked us to build their website from scratch. We designed and built a dark, gold-accented site that shows the houses properly and makes booking a two-tap job.

The challenge

What the site needed to do

VRS came to us to build their homestay website from scratch. The site had to carry a family legacy that goes back to 1989, show the houses the way a guest would want to see them, and feel as premium as the stay itself.

  • Show the houses and interiors the way a guest would want to see them
  • Make booking easy from a phone
  • Answer the questions guests ask before booking: amenities, house rules, location
  • Give travellers a reason to choose Mayiladuthurai, not just a room

The solution

What we built

Seven pages, one clear path

Home, Residences, About, Gallery, Amenities, Tourist Places and Contact. Every page ends in the same next step: book.

Booking in two taps

"Book Now" opens WhatsApp with the message already written. For guests who prefer a form, the Contact page takes check-in and check-out dates and the number of guests.

A gallery guests can filter

Interior photos sorted by bedrooms, living areas, kitchen, bathrooms and entrance, so visitors find what they care about quickly.

The house, in detail

A residences page with an image slider, room and bathroom counts, floor area, house rules and safety information.

Amenities and FAQ

Twelve amenities laid out plainly, from air-conditioned bedrooms to private parking, plus an FAQ on the home and contact pages.

A local travel guide

A Tourist Places page covering the Mayuranathar Temple and nine other destinations nearby. The Contact page shows the homestay on a map.

How we built it

Technology

  • HTML, CSS and JavaScriptHand-coded with no framework, so pages stay light and load fast on mobile data
  • Responsive layoutsEvery page adapts from phone to desktop
  • WhatsApp and Netlify FormsTwo booking routes, with no server to maintain
  • Search-ready markupStructured data, social sharing tags, a sitemap and robots.txt
  • Netlify hostingDeployed on a global CDN with HTTPS on the client's own domain

Our process

From brief to launch

  1. Discovery

We started with the brand: a family legacy since 1989 and premium houses near the Clock Tower and Mayuranathar Temple.

  2. Design

A black-and-gold visual language with serif headlines, built around large photography, to match the feel of the houses.

  3. Build

Seven hand-coded pages with a shared stylesheet and script, a filterable gallery, an image slider and two booking routes.

  4. Launch

Deployed to Netlify on vrshomestay.com with search and social-sharing tags in place.

The outcome

In the client's words

“We approached Vastvel to build our homestay website from scratch. The team understood our brand, our family legacy since 1989, and delivered a premium luxury website that truly represents VRS Homestay. The design is elegant, mobile-friendly and our guests have already appreciated the online presence.”
